The future of EuRoSoc

When I created EuRoSoc some time ago I had very high hopes for it. I imagined that we could create a huge community for roleplayers with dozens of groups, hundreds of members. But after a few weeks the interest waned and people (including me, I am afraid) stopped using it. So, now the questions is: what to do? Shall we close the network for good or do you think a renaissance is possible? What must be changed in order to make the EuRoSoc more interesting?

One year later...

It was… last week, I guess. Time go so fast in my reality. With Fast-Forward button pushed to the limit. But yeah.. it was a whole year. What happened with my old RP crew…? Few photos on laptop of our gaming table after night-long session in Witcher. Some notes in core-rulebook, few expansions I never had chance to use… What happened with my RP crew? Ina moved from Bydgoszcz (Bromberg) to Warsaw, she met some guy here.. can’t remember his name… and she started studies on Warsaw University. I hav… Continue

Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition

My favorite game shop be praised! On saturday I received the brand-new D&D 4th Edition core rules. Although I haven't had the time to read all the three books thoroughly, I really like the new rules. Some "sacred cows" have been butchered and the game really feels brand-new now. Although the combat feels more like a board game now, it should be faster and more cinematic than in earlier editions - at least in theory. The nice thing is the core rules finally contain some tips on roleplaying. W… Continue

Mass Effect and a story of epic proportions!

I don't think I have to explain the game Mass Effect to anyone here, since it's THE epic roleplaying game for the Xbox 360! Bioware and EA recently released the PC version and I just installed it on my PC. I have a pretty fast PC but the installation of that game is truly epic as well. Installation felt like it never wanted to end and even when the progress bar of the installer was 100% full, the game still needed some more files to be installed. So Bioware managed to make a game where even the… Continue

SPORE

Ok, I know. This is a community for roleplayers and you expect me to blog about roleplaying games. But my second blog post at EuRoSoc is about the upcoming game SPORE by Will Wright and Maxis. In a way, SPORE is the ultimate roleplaying game. At first you create your character (starting with a teeny tiny single cellular organism). You evolve him/her/it until you reach sentience. In the later phases of the game you are the leader of your tribe or civilization and finally you become the pilot of a… Continue
